Welcome to Kirkland Dog Grooming Parlour, my name is Tara. I love working with dogs and developing my passion for dog grooming. I am dedicated to ensuring that every dog not only looks fantastic but feels happy, comfortable, and cherished at my parlour.

My deep love for dogs began when I was child. My parents ran a boarding kennels and cattery, where I worked as a kennel maid and when I was older helped run and manage. It was a hugely rewarding experience that taught me invaluable lessons on responsibility, animal behaviour, needs and health. From this beginning dogs still hold a special place in my heart.

Life took me down a different path and I went off to study Archaeology and work in the museum sector. However in 2017 I made the decision to train as a dog groomer through City of Guilds and I haven't looked back since. I achieved my level 2 certificate for dog grooming assistants, level 3 certificate to introductory dog grooming and level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming -Merit. I also became canine first aid trained. Along with running my own salon from home I gained my BIIAB level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and became a tutor for adult learners wishing to become dog groomers. I will always seek to keep learning and improving.

Outside of work my life still revolves around dogs! With my own, over the years, I have completed at breed shows, agility shows and obedience shows.

I hope that for every dog that visits my parlour I get to build a happy, trusting relationship with. I believe grooming is a vital part of a dog's overall well-being. Regular grooming not only keeps their coats healthy and tangle-free but also allows for early detection of skin issues, parasites, and contributes significantly to their comfort and confidence.
